how to register for classes

From the home screen, touch the Schedules / Classes icon to view classes in the upcoming week.

Select your class and touch the Reserve button. It will change to Reserved and you’re all set. To learn more about the class before reserving, just touch the name of the class for more information. Group fitness class registration begins 7 days prior to the class’s start time.

To cancel a registration, just return to the app and select the Reservations tab. Then, touch the class reservation you need to cancel and the Cancel Reservation button. Canceling as soon as possible and at least 1 hour prior to class time is appreciated to open spaces for other users.

Adrian Maddox, Fitness Director

Fitness Director Adrian Maddox, is dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of the fitness department. He handles all departmental needs with a focus on creating and maintaining a positive and supportive environment, helping both staff and members thrive in their fitness journeys.

Shay Bareni

Shay Bareni, a professional high jumper, enjoys teaching Pilates, boot-camp classes, athletic conditioning, myofascial stretching, and balance on the vibration plate. Shay will help you learn about your body, improve your health, and learn how to reduce stress and have more balance in your life.

Avani Johnson

Avani Johnson, a University of Texas at Austin graduate, makes fitness accessible to all individuals, regardless of age, illness, or ability. She believes in the therapeutic effects of exercise, as her passion for leading others in fitness grew from assisting students with disabilities in adapted physical education.

Tre Bradley

Coach Tre Bradley is a Functional Movement Specialist from the Gray Institute of Applied Functional Science. He is very passionate, highly trained, and educated as a certified Fitness Professional with NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, Strategic Interventionist Relationship Counseling for individuals, couples, and families.

Barton David

As a certified trainer for 20 years, Barton enjoys tailoring programs to meet a wide variety of fitness goals including weight loss, Sports Performance, both Senior and Youth Fitness, and holds Functional Training Specialist and Life Coaching certifications to help clients attain optimal health and wellness while instilling a lifelong fun and positive approach to exercise.

Barbara Edes

Barbara is a highly-experienced NASM-certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor across multiple disciplines, including spinning, strength-training, and yoga. Adding the mindful approach of a yoga teacher, Barbara rounds out her programming to deliver more than a class, but a new outlook on self.

Anthony Rene

Coming from an athletics background, Trainer Anthony Rene prides himself as a goal-oriented trainer, challenging his clients to push past their limits to become a better version of themselves.

Emily Field

Emily’s fitness background extends over 26 years, beginning with Scottish Rite youth wellness videos as a child, to winning the San Francisco Marathon as an adult. She continues a well-rounded wellness work ethic by using successfully proven fitness programs, combined with upcoming philosophically modeled routines.

Justin Hodan

Justin Hodan, a graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas, is a professional fitness coach and trainer. He is the owner of Kenji-Con, a company working to develop innovative solutions to connect fitness and wellness professionals to clients around the globe.

Christi Simmons

Christi has a Master of Science Kinesiology & Exercise Physiology from UNT and a Bachelor of Science Kinesiology & Biology from Tarleton State University. She specializes in implementing the components of total fitness and creating workouts that provide immediate feedback and results.

Andrea Kelly

Andrea Kelly set a goal on her 40th birthday to run a 10k race, which jumpstarted her dedication to self-improvement in all areas of exercise. Now, she helps clients of all ages become comfortable with fitness equipment and find their passion for becoming their best selves.

David Morin

I'm passionate about health, fitness, and nutrition. I am a Certified Nutritional Health Coach through Precision Nutrition (PN) and a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM. I also hold certifications in TRX Suspension Training, TRX Yoga Flow, TRX RIP Trainer, and TRX Golf Specialization, and I instruct Silver Sneakers Foundations, BOOM Muscle, and Classic. I believe health and fitness can start at any age with proper guidance and willpower.

Donna Mazow

Donna attended the University of Texas at Austin and is a NASM certified personal trainer. Donna works hard to tailor her programs to the client's level, assist in setting realizable goals and when met makes getting to the next level achievable. Donna’s mission is to help her clients feel strong, confident and most of all feel healthy and happy!

Joey Saks

Joey, a chef for over 13 years in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Dallas, began focusing on fitness in 2014. Over four years, he lost 110 pounds and has maintained his weight since. With his knowledge, Joey can help you achieve your fitness goals. Having played multiple sports, he understands the importance of fitness. Whether you're preparing for a sports season, building muscle, or starting a HIIT program, Joey is here to help you achieve your SMART goals!

Rachel Levin

Born and raised in Dallas, I grew up within our community, went to the University of Denver, and came back to Dallas as a teacher. All the while, my love for health and fitness grew. Years of training competitively have helped me to gain the knowledge and experience to provide personalized workouts that are both efficient and effective.

Rachelle Toller

As a Type 1 diabetic and Precision Nutrition-certified coach, I have a deep understanding of how movement and nutrition work together for health. I’ve completed several half marathons and the Dallas Marathon, and I’m passionate about weightlifting, running, hiking, and exploring. As a classically trained French horn player, I also know the value of dedication and process in achieving lasting results. My mission is to help clients feel strong, confident, and ready to embrace the adventures and hobbies that bring them joy.

Mark Kimrey

Mark has over 20 years of experience in strength and conditioning and fitness with credentials including NSCA CSCS, USA Weightlifting, USA Track and Field, USA Powerlifting, and CrossFit Level 1, as well as B.S. in Exercise Science. He specializes in sports performance, strength, speed, power development, and metabolic conditioning. Mark loves helping people reach their goals, realize their full human potential, and keeping them functional for everyday life.

Morgan O’Neil, PhD

Baylor Scott & White Research Institute

After graduating with my PhD in Kinesiology from Michigan State University in 2021, I served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Albion College in Albion, Michigan. I joined Baylor Scott & White Research Institute in 2022 as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and currently serve as a Research Investigator. My primary research interest revolves around identifying and developing treatment approaches to improve recovery outcomes for children with concussion. I am also interested in identifying factors that may influence recovery outcomes for children with concussion to help patients and their families make informed healthcare decisions. I was awarded my first federally funded grant as an Investigator from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research to develop and implement a post-concussion educational toolkit at Baylor Scott & White settings that treat children with concussion. My work has resulted in over 20 peer-reviewed articles in sports medicine, brain injury, and rehabilitation journals. In my free time I enjoy watching English Premier League with my husband and reading.

Kayla Covert

Baylor Scott & White Research Institute

Kayla Covert is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy and an expert in vestibular rehabilitation. With over 12 years of clinical experience, Kayla joined the Baylor Scott and White Rehabilitation Institute in 2023 and now works alongside Dr. O’Neil on pediatric concussion research. Kayla previously practiced as a full-time clinician at the BSW Sports Concussion Program at The Star in Frisco, TX. She and her husband reside in Prosper, TX and are proud parents of their son, Deuce.

Dr. Tyler Lewis

Dr. Tyler Lewis has been passionately serving his community for 9 years at Self Unbound in North Dallas, helping people heal and thrive by enhancing brain and neurological health through a chiropractic specialty called Network Spinal Care. Dr. Tyler has received a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Hendrix College, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker College of Chiropractic. Through his training and clinical experience, he recognizes the power that we all share to self heal, and works directly with the innate intelligence of our bodies to enhance human function and performance through scientifically researched strategies. He believes that our quality of life: physically, mentally and emotionally, is directly related to our ability to find and use energy and resources to adapt and thrive, thus he uses his expertise to help people experience extraordinary healing through nervous system enhancement.

Inspired by the healing that she witnessed in herself and others as a patient, she enrolled in Parker University, graduating with a Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2023. She is passionate about helping people realize their full healing potential with this cutting-edge technique that focuses on optimizing the adaptability of the nervous system. She believes in the body’s remarkable ability to heal itself, serving her community with this approach to chiropractic care that centers around the powerful role of the nervous system in overall health and well-being.

Georgina “Gina” Chew has been a professional fitness instructor for over 20 years, with certifications in multiple fitness formats including Barre, Zumba, La Blast, Aqua Fitness, Jungshin Sword Fitness, Pound and many more. She is also a 200 hr certified yoga instructor, Reformer and Mat Pilates instructor, personal trainer, and sports nutritionist.

She is a certified Mayo Clinic Health & Wellness Coach and holds the esteemed National Board for Health & Wellness Coach (NBHWC) credential. Gina has a degree in sociology from the University of North Texas, with minors in business and commercial music.

Gina has studied many forms of dance including ballet, lyrical, contemporary, tap, hip hop and Latin. She is fluent in Spanish and is conversational in French. Her hobbies include painting, competitive tennis, travel, and recreational water activities.

Natalie Clarke

Natalie Gorby has been in the fitness industry for 10 years. Her career started with a background in dance, where she was classically trained in ballet, tap and jazz. She is also a former Miss Texas and had a background dancing for the NBA. From there, she started teaching at a Pilates and Barre studio in order to gain more knowledge on her craft. After having transitioned to cycle and strength, she realized her first love was Barre and Pilates. Natalie now is a part of the JCC family and loves representing that community. Her and her husband run a nutrition and wellness business together where they provide premium brand health products to clients

Erick N. Dudley Bey, MBA

Coach Erick is a native of Williamstown, New Jersey and has been a resident of Dallas for five years. A lifelong practitioner of combat sports training, coach Erick has a passion for boxing and its efficacy for helping to live a fit lifestyle. He has been a boxing instructor for two years.

Renee Austin

Yoga, to me, is therapy. We come to our mats with all sorts of stuff and nonsense that life hands to us. On our mats, we connect with ourselves, our bodies and our breath and decide what we need to continue to carry and what can be left behind. I have taught for 9 years and practiced for(almost)ever. I love finding ways to help people feel better in the bodies and in their hearts. My classes lean towards light-hearted, challenging and fun with yoga wisdom sprinkled thru. I can’t wait to see you on your mat!!

Brett Stanley

Brett Alana Stanley is the Director of Wellness at Methodist Health System (MHS), one of the leading healthcare providers in Texas. A native of Dallas, Brett earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. She then went on to teach English in Palencia, Spain for two years, where she honed her Spanish language skills.Subsequently, Brett worked for the World Affairs Council, planning and executing official visits for diplomats from around the world. She also worked for Custom Caregivers which provides non-medical, in-home care services to the community.In 2017, Brett joined Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) where she was responsible for developing health education and wellness programming for corporate partners. During her more than five-year tenure at BSWH, Brett progressed from wellness coordinator to wellness manager and implemented an employee engagement program, which supported more than 40,000 employees and beneficiaries.In 2022, Brett was honored to join the MHS team, and she has fully embraced the compassionate culture the system boasts. In this role, she brings over a decade of well-being experience and a knack for creating creative content to empower others to thrive and advocate for their own health and wellness.Brett collaborates with the employee population as a whole to understand their needs and deploy a customized, engaging and forward-thinking program.Brett resides in Dallas, Texas with her 8-year-old son, Elam. I have been teaching Pilates for 5 years some in California and now in Dallas. I’m giving back the love of movement (I discovered in college in a ballet class) to the people I’m strengthening with Pilates. Pilates has a lot of ballet influence and I love to teach it. I found the J through word of mouth and it all felt like a safe haven even the community is as kind as the street names surrounding! Fitness Assessments

Ages: 15 Years and older

The J fitness staff wants each and every member to experience exercise and fitness in the most positive way possible and we aspire to assist each one of you in achieving all of your health and fitness goals. Do you already know what you want from your workout but don’t quite know how to use the equipment? During this orientation, a member of our experienced certified personal training staff shows you how to correctly use each piece of equipment. You learn proper alignment, biomechanics, and technique on each strength piece, as well as proper usage of all cardiovascular pieces. This is a great way to become familiar with all the equipment at the J.

Experienced Certified Personal Training

Ages: 13 Years and older

Are you looking to tone up or drop a few extra pounds? Do you play sports and want to become faster, quicker, and more agile? Want a program to help strengthen the body and improve overall functionality? Perhaps you are just looking for new ways to spice up the old program. Our professional training team can help you to successfully achieve your goals. Fitness assessments consist of measurements of one or more aspects of your health and fitness. It may include your weight, cardiovascular condition (resting and exercise heart rate and performance), body composition, musculoskeletal condition, blood pressure, and body size (circumferences). The objective of your first assessment is to give you a baseline from which to measure your performance. Subsequent assessments provide milestones to help you evaluate your progress. In our state-of-the-art Fitness Complex, we are more versatile than ever. A 24-hour cancellation notice is required or the client is charged for the session. Training sessions expire ninety (90) days after purchase (gift certificates are no exception!).

TRX

In a small group setting, you’ll benefit from personalized guidance and tailored exercises that ensure proper form and maximize results. From the home screen, touch the Facility Reservations icon. Select your lane, start time and duration and then touch the Reserve button. It will change to Reserved and you're all set. Add your reservation to your calendar, you can also share it | your a friend or family member.

manage notifications

Management of notifications from the My J app currently takes place on your phone via the phone's system settings. Visit the Notifications setting to turn on or off notifications from the app. The ability to manage specific notifications is planned as a future enhancement to the app.

FAQ's

Do I need to download the app if I do not make reservations?
Yes, Please download the app to get up to date facility hours, alerts and to find other useful information on our programs.

Do I have to make reservations for classes or the facility?
Yes, to assure we know you are coming and that you are able to get your spot in one of our classes or facilities, reservations are necessary. We do allow walk ins for certain facilities such as the pool but it is first come, first serve and we cannot guarantee space.

Is there a waitlist?
Yes, this option is only available if you are using the app. If a class is full, you will be placed on a waitlist and notified if a space opens up. The app and the web scheduler will tell you how many spots are remaining in a class.

Is the health screening form on the app?

Yes, it is the icon on the top right on the home screen.

Who has access to the app?
AlL JCC members including those joining us from one of our insurance programs.

Do I have to reserve through the app? Can I reserve through computer or laptop?
The My J App is the best place to make reservations and the only place to access alerts and waitlist. We do have an embedded web based scheduler available for both fitness classes and facility reservations. You must still be logged into the My JApp platform.

The app says my e-mail address is invalid, what do I do?
This is likely due to the e-mail that we have on our membership system not being the e-mail you are trying to use for the app. Please e-mail membership@jdallas.org to correct this issue.

Are the virtual classes (J-Connect) available on the app?

  1. Yes! You can reserve virtual or hybrid classes via the app, though you must still have requested access through our private J-Connect Facebook Group.

  2. You can launch the virtual classes from the app, it will open the video in the Facebook group.
  3. Soon our video library of previous live classes or pre-recorded content will be available on the app to view for our Total J and Virtual J Members.

I take Spin classes or Speedflex, what do I need to do on Spivi?
At the moment, to reserve for those classes, there is a two-step process for reserving your space, starting in the My J App. then following the link to Spivi. In coming weeks we hope to have a seamless integration of both apps, eliminating the need for a two step process.

How soon can I make reservations?
Reservations presently can be made seven (7) days in advance.

When can I cancel my reservation?
Up to 60-minutes (1 hour) in advance of your appointment.

Why did the J change to this new app?
While the current systems have served their purpose during the pandemic, it has been our goal to provide a unified member experience that allows for all reservations and communication to exist in one space. This allows our members to have full and clear access to our facility and all it has to offer, with up-to-the-minute information.

When will I be able to reserve tennis courts, personal training or book other classes or programs through the app?
Other areas are due to come online in coming weeks or months, tennis and personal training are priorities after the launch of the app. You can also find information on our other programs such as the GECC, Camp. JPAS, Jewish/Cultural Arts, via the links in the programs section of the app.
