Sam Slusher Award: Marjorie Rosenber

Marjorie was born and raised in Washington, D.C. where her mother was a housewife with a law degree and her father worked for the U.S. Patent Office. Marjorie was educated at Mt. Holyoke College, an English Lit major. She met and married David Rosenberg in 1962, and together they raised two children; Michael Rosenberg, who lives in Lincolnshire in the U.K. and Susan Sanders, who lives here in Dallas. She has four grandchildren: three English grandsons, and a native Texan granddaughter. Marjorie spent most of her adult life in Connecticut where she worked for an investment firm until her retirement in 2010. After retiring she moved to Dallas to be near her daughter and granddaughter. She realized she needed to connect with people and the JCC presented the perfect opportunity. Marjorie joined the J in 2010 and began participating in a myriad of awesome activities: Senior Lunches, Readers Theater, Exercise Classes, Senior Expo, Melton and Gesher Courses, and the joyful and amazing Grandfriends program among them. Marjorie is the President of the Senior Advisory Board, and is an active Hadassah volunteer, where she is the current Fundraising VP, having served as Chapter president for the past three years. The JCC is Marjorie’s homebase where she’s made friends, connected with the Jewish community, and enjoyed the many opportunities the J offers the Senior population.
Hank Bodner Award: Aidan Stern

The JCC of Dallas has been the center of Aidan’s life since day one. From Mommy-and-Me to Camp Simchah and J Soccer, onto Camp Chai, Sports Camp and J Basketball, Aidan’s childhood memories have taken him through the halls and on the courts and fields of the Aaron Family JCC. Last summer, Aidan had the privilege of playing on the 14U basketball team as part of the Dallas delegation in Florida, an experience he looks forward to enjoying again this summer in Houston as a member of the 16U team.
Aidan’s hard work in basketball led him to play ball for The Triumph Club throughout his 7th and 8th grade years, while leading his Levine Academy Middle School basketball team as the MVP two years in a row. As a freshman in the Hillcrest High School International Baccalaureate Program, Aidan played point guard for the JV team. He plans to continue to play competitively on the high school level over the next three years at Hillcrest.
Aidan is a poised and humble leader both on and off the court. He is an active volunteer in Friendship Circle of Dallas, where he also serves on the teen board. He looks forward to giving back to the J this summer as a Camp Chai counselor and as a teen board member for Maccabi. As a third-generation member of the Dallas Jewish Community and the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center, Aidan is honored to receive the 2024 Hank Bodner Award.
